Alpha
Dear Friend
It is a fact of life that although we live in what we may call a 'Christian
country', many people are not at all clear on what Christians believe regarding
God, the Church, the world and how we live together in it. The sad
truth is that many do not give much thought to these things until they
are in a crisis.
Alternatively, there are masses of people in whose lives Christianity
has played a large part, forming their character and giving them their
values. Somehow, with the passing of the years, they have lost touch
with that 'core' of their lives and feel a little sad about it.
Here at Central, we recognise that people who have questions to ask
about the Christian faith, approach it from different backgrounds and it
is with that in mind that I should like to introduce you to Alpha.
Alpha
What is it?
Alpha is a way of travelling together on a
journey of faith. It never assumes anything and begins where we are.
It takes our questions seriously and encourages us to explore the scriptures
in small groups for help with life's biggest issues.
Who is it for?
Alpha is for anyone who has a genuine interest in making progress in their
own personal journey of faith, but who recognises that this is best achieved
in company with others.
What does it offer?
Alpha offers opportunities to meet with other people who are on a similar
quest and who are looking for answers to some of life's big questions.
In an Alpha group you may well find that your questions are other people's
questions too.
When is it held?
We are running Alpha courses in the Autumn. For more information on courses, please contact the minister.
